Hello! My name is Poi and I’m the maker and owner at Isaan Creations. We are located in North Java, NY, about an hour or so from Niagara Falls and 40 minutes from Buffalo, NY. I myself moved here in 2019 to live with my husband, Steve. I’m originally from Thailand.
Isaan Creations was created with the word “Isaan” in mind. It is a Thai word that means the Northeastern region of the country, its people, and its language. Therefore, Isaan is who I am, and where I’m from…it is my home and my roots that I’m bringing across the globe with me. And what a coincidence that New York, my new home, is in the Northeastern part of the US too!!
Isaan Creations’ logo contains the map of Isaan and a rice stalk, which is our main food in Thailand. The green and yellow colors are for the lushness of our fields and the golden color of rice when it’s ready to be harvested.
In 2016 I became fascinated with soap-making when one of my coworkers gave me one of her handmade soaps. I never knew you can MAKE YOUR OWN SOAP! After that I started reading, researching, and watching a lot of YouTube videos, I made my first batch and all day, all night, everyday, I was thinking of making soap and imagining soap designs. On top of the fun, I was hopeful that one day, if and when I get to live with my then boyfriend in the US, I will have a skill for me to make a living there. Over the years, soaping became a passion as I learned how to develop and express my creativity through the art. Whether finding the right blend of fragrances, experimenting with colors, natural ingredients, or designs, there is no limit to one’s creativity. After making soap for friends and family, I soon found myself developing my hobby into a small business, Pimmy's Handcrafted Soap, selling my products at Farmer’s Market in and around Bangkok. By then I was also making other bath and body products such as salves, bath bombs, shower steamers, beard oils, lotions, and the like.
June 2019 I moved to the US to live with my boyfriend (we got married in February 2020) and a few months after that I delved into the world of candle making. In Thailand, we rarely light scented candles and even though I would come across the topic in some of my soap researches, I didn't get a chance to pursue candle making until I moved to the US, because the candle making community is a lot larger here and there are many people who purchase and light candles. This new craft quickly became something I enjoy, along with making colorful scented wax melts.
At Isaan Creations, we hand-pour candles and wax melts. We also handcraft soaps and other bath and body products mentioned above. Our products are made in small batches with high quality ingredients sourced from reputable suppliers in the US. We use local ingredients where we can, for example, milk, honey, maple syrup, dandelions, spearmint, and so on. Our newest product are the wooden lids you see on our candles. My husband, my father-in-law, and I started making these in April 2020. They are homemade with fallen trees from my father-in-law’s property. We make these lids for the candle making community as well. You can find our lids and collapsible wooden shelves at our sister website https://woodcraftbyisaancreations.fws.store/ .
When you shop at Isaan Creations, you can rest assure that we take great care in our production, along with materials and ingredients used. Our customer service is top notch! We hope that you enjoy our products. Thank you for being here!
